Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are cancer cells that possess characteristics associated with normal stem cells, specifically the ability to give rise to all cell types found in a particular cancer sample. CSCs are therefore tumorigenic. The existence of CSCs is under debate and the origin of CSCs is an active research area. CSCs may generate tumors through the stem cell processes of self-renewal and differentiation into multiple cell types. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been identified in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). So, development of specific therapies targeted at CSCs holds hope for improvement of survival and quality of life of cancer patients, especially for patients with metastatic disease like (HNSCC).

SUBMENTAL INTUBATION AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL METHODS OF GENERAL ANAESTHESIA – REVIEW
International Journal of Recent Scientific Research / 13 - فبراير - 2018
Airway management in patients undergoing maxillofacial surgery, the surgeon needs to control the dental occlusion and nasal pyramid assessment. For these reasons, oral and nasal endotracheal intubations are contraindicated. Tracheostomy often has perioperative and postoperative complications. Submental orotracheal intubation is now a recognized method of airway control during maxillofacial surgery. It provides a secure airway and does not interfere with maxilla mandibular fixation or access to naso- orbito - ethmoid fractures.
Giant cell tumors in temporomandibular joint region involving lateral skull base: A literature review
International Journal of Medical and Health Research / 5 - أبريل - 2019
Purpose: To review the literature associated with giant cell tumors in temporomandibular joint and lateral skull base region.Materials and Methods: A review of the literature was performed to record the tumor location, patient’s personal data, and extentof resection, radiotherapy, recurrence, clinical features, and Follow-up.Results: Nine articles were identified and reviewed in the presented study. The most common clinical symptoms in GCTs in the
TMJ-SB region were malocclusion and restriction of mouth opening, other symptoms such as persistent headache and hypoacusis
also were not rare because of skeletal invasion of the skull base and ears. Skull base GCTs occur most commonly in young adults
with an equal sex distribution. The total removal of gaint cell tumors in TMJ without adjuvant radiotherapy is the most effective
treatment for localized disease.

Effect of the use of platelets: Rich plasma (PRP) on periapical bone repair following Apicectomy on a sample of patients from the middle area in Syria
International Journal of Applied Dental Sciences / 22 - سبتمبر - 2019
Purpose: To efficacy evaluation of using platelets rich plasma (PRP) on bone healing after eradication of maxillofacial cysts. Materials and Methods: 30 peak lesion cases that achieved on 28 patients. The sample was randomly divided into two groups. Group I: Practice plasma rich platlets on 14 patients after extraction of cyst lesion. Group II: Extracted of cyst lesion for 14 patients without adding plasma rich platlets. Cases were clinically and radio graphically follow-up after 3, 6 and 9 months. Results: PRP group showed bone reconstruction faster than the control group. There are statistical differences between groups in 1, 3, 6 and 9 months after surgery for management with PRP. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that using platelets rich plasma (PRP) provide bone reconstruction faster and better after eradication of maxillofacial cysts.
